Plums.............galore..

Its that time of the year again..plums are flooding the market and ammuma (my grandma) cant seem to have enough of those ..... an investigative report on the unusual timing of this seasonal fruit.

Plums red plums........ wow ....they look good , taste good and are healthy too, these fruits which were earlier available in upmarket supermarkets and stores only are now available on the streets.....these fruits have always grabbed my attention as they are fruits that normally grow in hill stations..(i donno how far this is true..except that ive heard someone mentioning that plums grew in ooty ...long time back.. when i lived there, i was 2oo small to remember facts).Vannila has always has a fasination for hill stations and anything to do with them..(including my dad..lol).
Plums are unique among the fruits, because they are a diverse group belonging to fifteen different species and are native to areas throughout the world. Well, that in itself is a reason fit to draw attention to it and moreover these fruits are perfect for those lazy gooses who are too lazy to cut up an apple as they neednt be cut up at all..well, like magoes these are seasonal fruits and can be eaten only when they are available...so make a grab for the plums when you see them next time.
Plums are a good source of potassium. They also contain some vitamin A and vitamin E. They are considered to be good for the circulation and help combat fluid retention.
Calories in Plums:
20 calories per average plum (do we care!)...........hey ppl this is an investigative report only and does not mean that i count calories or anything... so dont come and ask me in class if thats how i am stayin thin......nooooo....its genes.....(iam sick of sayin this) .....

[ i know this write up sounds like an ad of plums... not a mistake...... hmm...its just to prove my marketing skiils......lol.....)

HEAD AND SHOULDERS!!!!!!!

WATS WITH THE HAIRSTYLES......????

“Use your head, wear a helmet” this is a slogan that can be found at various places,……..but some people don’t wear helmets because they feel they would be hiding their hairstyles….well..a friend actually told me that she loves wearing helmets as they spell safety and style, but on being questioned as to why she hadn’t been wearing them for some time she hesitantly disclosed that she wanted everyone to catch a glimpse of her new hair colour.

Hair colour, cuts, styles and ofcourse the most recent trend ,hair straightening , all these seem to be the topics of disscusions inside college classrooms and other 'normal' places as well. Who straightened thier hair, where... ? all these seems to be the major gossip thats doing the rounds, guys and filmstars seem to have taken a back seat when compared to hair. Vannila's staight hair does get a lot of doubtful glances, but dear readers i like 2 clarify that my hair is naturally straight and i havent done anything to it...except once last yr wen i straightened my hair 4 a show, but that was just temporary and my hair was back to normal,(thr wasnt much difference) the next day.
My best friend actually has that machine,.the 1 tht people straighten thier hair with (temporary.... the hot iron or watever its called), despite my anger pangs, pleas ....... she still does that to her hair very often.. i keep telling her that one day she would be left with just 2 or 3 stands of hair to iron.. the looks she gives me isnt really an indication of her thoughts and i know it as well as she does,...evryone likes to have poker staight hair and yes for once i have to agree that straight hair suites everyone, yes , atleast most people, but when people who have really curly hair straighten it..... results are disastrous. They turn out looking like some one else, especially if the person happens to be a good friend of yours ,then you begin to feel that she is going through a phase of major identity crisis. Our hair forms a very important part of the identification process..lol.. yes its true.. Anyway... ..all i have to say is.. hair.. curly or straight , thin or thick , long or short........ the healthier the better. I love my hair.......

I SAW A DOUBLE RAINBOW !!!!!!!!!!

This happened 2day, 13th on july ,evening , me and amma were just lazing around and planning a shopping trip, we suddenly heard the rain and went out to the bacony...... it was pouring, we knew our shopping plans wouldnt go waste coz rain in chennai always stops after some time, and yes we were right exept 4 one thing before going for shopping the sky gave us a surprise.

we were ready to go out and were disscussing about which vehicle to take when it started raining again, but wonders o wonders the sun was shining ... and yes it was shining brightly, my mom and me screamed out at the same time "RAINBOW". We hadnt seen it yet , but we knew that whenever this happened we have always been lucky to see the rainbow.we ran to the balcony but couldnt see anything ,i mean we couldnt see the rainbow, "there isnt any rainbow 2day" tht was me talking, amma on the other hand went up to the terrace and then called out from there , she called out to me that the rainbow had come and it was beautifuuuul , i ran up the stairs , faster than i ever had and yea it was worth running fast (i havent run this fast even on sports prelims day),and then i saw it, with all its splendor a beautiful rainbow doing full justice to the name.

We were admiring the Beauty of it and talking of mother nature's ability 2 create things that were perfect for each other like the rainbow and the sky , the moon and the sky.. etc...suddenly we realised that above the colours we could see some other colours, that was another rainbow..well that was a shock , i know that word doesnt suit the context but i cant really think of any other......i dint know that a such a thing (double rainbow) ever existed , but i was really really happy that i had been fortunate enough to see one..... and belive me when i say this it was fantastic experience, absolutely on top of the world. iam not a fan of the rain , but as Dolly parton puts it "If u want the rainbow , u gotta put up with the rain" lets hope we get to see double rainbows more often.

Goin the health food way.........
Hogging on health food????- na, na.
"Dia u wanna have some health food"?????? my mom's question baffled me.... we were returning after giving my scooty pep+ for its first service, its first official doctor's check up i called it, and now wat???? my amma wants me to have health food .... god save me!!!!!!!but of course responds to pleas to the almighty arent always as fast as instant messages are....i know i look like i live on boiled veggies and stuff like that, but nothing in the world could be worse to me than having helath food..... YUCK!!!!!! but this is a surprise, i mean my mom hasnt really nagged me abt food , (most of the time . doesnt even know if i eat..), and wouldnt certainly ask me to eat health food ,wats with her now?? has some of these soaps that speak about being gud moms washed her brains.... huh??? bad .....
This turned out to be different, amma wanted to go to "Sanjeevenam", a new health food restaurent at Indira nagar and vannila never says no to eating out...so we went and the rest as they say is history... well i wouldve become history if i had eaten everything......
god!!!! vegetables are bad.... and for pure non veggies like me... this place is hell, i actually regreted going there... imagine.... vannila actually regreting something she ate,,,.... sounds bad na...but i must say this.... its heaven for health freaks
If u r a veggie and a total health freak , take the address from me and go there!! just go!! u ll love it...... its ment 4 ppl like u..
the first thing i noticed there was the furniture and the interiors of the restaurent, interesting i called it.
It was 12.30 on a saturday afternoon and the place was packed, well it was full, i was amazed, expected it to be empty with the waiters swapping mosquitoes, but chennai is health consious , looks like it is....the cities gyms r fuller than ever, and now this....wats wrong with the ppl???
well to speak about the food, the first thing tht was served to us was three small slices of bannana and then after making sure we had eaten that they served juice or shall i say juices.... coz 5 diff varities of juices were served,.. well they were all in really small glasses, so dont lift ur eyebrows at the thought of drinking 5 glasses of juice. well the juices were all nice (the best part of the meal , i would call it), the juices were each unique in its own way, the 1st one was a dates juice, and then milk with nuts in it, a clear veg soup (bright red colour, bet it had beetroot in it), and then a special butter milk followed by bran rice water, tht was pretty gud, yeah it actually was..
Then came the main yelai....... namba bashai le sona peria yelai... coz it was really big, and it had plenty of place to occupy the millions of vetetables that followed, the first thing served on it was a row of uncooked veggitables, followed by a row of semicooked vegetables and then finnaly the full cooked veggitables, now dont ask me how all these dishes tasted , i wouldnt know coz i dint taste most of them, amma seemed to be enjoying it...then came the traditional rice and other stuff like sambhar, ....and then then a sweet and then..... Honey, yes it seems that honey after meals is gud ... so we ended the meal on a sweet note, though i wasnt very sweet to my mom coz she had me to this place instead of taking me to a pizza joint.nyway... Hail health food ...... long live health food freaks ....(they really deserve this ,after goin throught tht , i know they do..)
